Bridgehampton

Welcome to Bridgehampton

Luxurious beach estates and exquisite alfresco dining.

Centrally located within The Hamptons, Bridgehampton is a community for foodies, beachgoers, and equestrians alike. Rustic bistros and quaint hotspots specializing in European cuisine, horse shows, and polo events are some of the most popular and highly anticipated events in town, and well-heeled neighbors reside in cedar shingle-clad estates boasting perfectly manicured lawns. From most points in town, the beach is never more than a few minutes away, making this one of the most popular communities within The Hamptons.

Southampton was founded in 1640, with settlers moving eastward to what is now Bridgehampton shortly after. The community was established as Bullhead and then renamed Southampton in the 1650s. With the completion of the Long Island Railroad in 1870, the community grew faster than it ever had before, bringing visitors and both full-time and part-time residents. Today, more people reside in Bridgehampton year-round than ever before and enjoy an affluent, cosmopolitan life on the shores of one of the most prestigious beachfront stretches in the nation.

Local Lifestyle

Opulent and alluring, Bridgehampton is home to fashionable shopping and exclusive clubs, but locals also enjoy the quiet, communal feel, not expected to be found in such a glamorous area. While A-listers flock to Bridgehampton during the popular summer months to enjoy the spotless beaches, year-round locals enjoy close proximity to farm stands and marinas where small-town fishing crews bring in fresh seafood daily and local, seasonal produce is abundant. Horseback riding, decadent dining experiences, and the simplest of luxuries are enjoyed every day in this sumptuous yet unpretentious haven.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

One of The Hamptons’ premier dining destinations is home to a solid and consistent selection of restaurants. Polo matches, winetastings, and days at the beach are endless in this year-round utopia.

Special occasions are enjoyed at Almond, a romantic French bistro serving a menu of oysters, duck confit, steak frites, mussels, lobster spaghetti, and other European specialties. Upon its opening in 2001, Almond was a breath of fresh air among the community attracting locals, celebrities, restaurateurs, and tourists, giving the area something it didn’t know it needed.

Jean-Georges at Topping Rose House is another elegant dining experience situated in one of The Hamptons’ most luxurious full-service hotels. A micro-seasonal menu featuring only the highest quality of ingredients offers options for any appetite. From their smoked salmon Benedict to the crispy salmon sushi to tuna tartare and homemade macarons, it is undoubtedly one of Bridgehampton’s best spots to enjoy an elegant occasion out.

Armin & Judy features local ingredients in southern European-inspired plates enjoyed in a cozy dining room featuring white-glove service and a rustic atmosphere. The next-door bakery offers homemade grab-and-go croissants, bread, French loaves, cakes, and other sweet treats.

Candy Kitchen is the go-to spot for locals to grab an old-fashioned breakfast, lunch, or scoop of homemade ice cream. This cash-only spot on the corner sports a simple interior where hot fudge sundaes, mint chip ice cream, fried clams, turkey clubs, and chicken salad sandwiches are savored by visitors of all ages

Round Swamp Farm offers fresh produce grown locally, delicious homemade baked goods, and classic prepared meals, salads and sides.

Things To Do

Elegant outdoor activities are abundant in Bridgehampton, with Bridge Golf Club being one of the favorite places for locals to enjoy free time. Stretching across over 300 seaside acres, one of the top-rated courses in New York state boasts 27 holes of championship golf and a casual-chic vibe not often seen at such affluent clubs of this nature. During the summer, the polo fields are the place to see and be seen, especially at the end of July. Polo Hamptons, the largest polo match in the area, takes place over two weekends attracting thousands of attendees from both near and far. In addition to the exciting match, guests enjoy exquisite bites, expertly paired cocktails, and great company. The Event at the Bridge is arguably the most prestigious social happening, being an invite-only event. One of the area’s most unique car shows features over 200 automobiles from past eras and supports athletic programs and educational efforts for the youth of Harlem, to set young men up for success in the future. The Hampton Classic Horse Show is another summertime sensation, and one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the nation. Taking place over Labor Day weekend, it is the official big bang to signify the end of the summer social season.
